NOTE: seats are currently full, but it is possible we will have more boats available on that date. Please email if you are interested, and we will let you know if something becomes available. Also, you can still register for the summer Juniors sessions, or inquire about joining the masters rowers.

Humboldt Bay Rowing will hold a FREE “Learn to Row Day” on Saturday, June 8. While learning to row in a racing shell is not actually possible to achieve in one day, this event allows community members to get a “taste” of what the sport of rowing entails. It may even help you appreciate the Olympic rowing events later this summer. You can sign up on Eventbrite. Please note that available seats are quite limited. If you have previously attended a Learn to Row session, please consider not signing up again to let someone else in the community have the experience.

Participants will be given land instruction, then will join experienced rowers in an 8-person rowing shell on the Bay. A coach will walk the crew through the basics of rowing from a safety launch.

The approximately 2-hour-long sessions are available from 7 a.m. to noon. The early morning sessions are most likely to experience calm conditions.

This free event is for anyone who is curious about rowing. For those who want to have a more in-depth training, see the posts on Junior and Adult rowing to participate in sessions for new rowers.

We do ask that you call to cancel your reservation if you can’t make it or if you feel ill at all on June 8.
